A true American Pitbull Terrier Hero! Dixie was born September 15th, 2018, outside of the small town, Gerald, Missouri. Dixie was given to me as a gift from a friend. I had no idea what this journey would be like. I'd never owned a dog of my own. In fact, I had never been a "animal" person you could say. The night Dixie arrived at our home was the moment that changed our lives forever. Dixie and I bonded instantly. I have always heard over the years that dogs have a way of finding the ones that need them the most. I didn't believe it until she entered our lives. At that time I was in a dark place in my life and in my mind. There was no doubt that I had fallen into a depression and angry with our higher power. Dixie forever changed every single thing in my life. Unconditional Love is one thing that Dixie has never been deprived from. It was not but a couple of years after she became part of our family that a situation occured and I was literally dead in the basement of a home in St Louis. Wihout hesitation, Dixie got the help I needed from my son just in time. EMT's were able to bring me back but if it wasn't for her I'd never of made it. A couple of years after that event, my son was in the basement of a friends house in a small room when a fire started in front of the only exit there was downstairs. Again, Dixie managed to gain his attention and took him to where the fire had started. My son was able to scream for help and by the grace of god, a friend of ours heard him ran downstairs and luckily was able to get the fire out just right before it was about to start burning the wiring of the home. She's a hero, our hero. She's more than deserving of a good life and of all the love that she receives every second of every day. She soon will be 8 years old and many people don't like her because of her breed. However, if somebody gives her a chance and would take the time to get to know her instead of fearing her, they will learn for themselves there's no reason to fear her. Dixie has brought us so much joy and happiness and I personally have learned just as much from her and she has me if not more. If there comes a day that Dixe is no longer with us (because god takes her home) my son and I discussed that we do NOT every want the memories of Dixie to ever be forgotton. We decided to open an online resale shop, in her name. Some day, this shop will be handed down to my son so he can contine to carry on her memory and also so he'd never have to struggle in life financially like we had done for years when he was younger. I have faith in him and I know that one day, he will be a successful business owner. And I know he'll run this shop with pride because like I mentioned earlier, we wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for Dixie. She'll forever be our everything....Our hero...
